Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Lab Tech (ASCP eligible) to perform tests, maintain quality control, and support training within a busy laboratory. The role includes operating instrumentation, documenting issues, and ensuring safe, compliant lab practices.

Ideal candidates have a two-year MLT program or associate degree, and six months of lab experience. ASCP eligibility and computer proficiency are favored. On-site work in Massachusetts with union-affiliated pay structures.

Qualifications

• Six months experience in a laboratory environment.
• Two year Medical Lab Technician Program/Associate’s Degree.
• MLT (ASCP) license eligible.
• Able to utilize analyzers and computer proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests and quality control procedures in assigned areas.
• Assess and report acceptable results. Troubleshoot and document problems and out-of-control results to level of capability. Notify supervisor of problems.
• Perform and document routine and monthly maintenance of laboratory instrumentation. Notify supervisor of operational difficulties.
• Maintain inventory sheets in assigned areas and notify coordinator of needs.
• Assist in training students and new employees.
• Operate computer including all routines dealing with patient data and quality control.
• Perform phlebotomies as requested.
• Maintain laboratory work areas in a clean and safe manner.
• Attend laboratory meetings.
• Attend in service education meetings and educational seminars as requested and other duties as needed.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50–100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.

Pay Range

$25.25 – $45.53 per hour

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
