Job summary

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, seeks a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II to join its laboratory team as a generalist.

ASCP-certified professionals are preferred and enjoy working in a collaborative hospital environment with exposure to a broad range of laboratory testing. The MLS II performs specimen processing and routine to complex testing with a focus on quality control, documentation, and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical/Life Science or related field.
• ASCP, AMT, AAB or equivalent certification preferred/required.
• <2 years of related experience preferred/required>

Responsibilities

• Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results.
• Trains new laboratory personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment.
• Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
• Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and initiatives by proactively diagnosing and resolving problems.
