Job summary

UNC Medical Center is seeking an MLS I/II to join the Special Chemistry Laboratory. You will perform a range of CLIA tests from waived to high complexity and act as a technical resource.

The role includes quality control, instrument maintenance, and teamwork with clinicians. A CLS degree or equivalent with relevant certifications is required, with on-site responsibilities in Chapel Hill.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CLS or related science required.
• Associate’s degree with MLT certification acceptable for MLS I/II track.
• ASCP/AMT certification required for certain tracks.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived to high complexity CLIA testing as appropriate.
• Investigate equipment and workflow issues and implement corrective actions.
• Carry out quality control and proficiency testing processes.
• Prepare reagents and standard materials for testing.
• Monitor inventory and maintain laboratory supplies.
• Review results and ensure accurate reporting to clinicians.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and teams on test interpretation.
• Participate in education and training of staff and learners.
