Job summary

R.J. Corman Railroad Group seeks a Travel Mechanic - Railcar to travel to various locations for welding, cutting and mechanical repairs. You will document work performed and record material usage, ensuring paperwork for railcar repairs is complete, accurate, and that jobs are finished on time.

Mechanical experience is preferred; strong communication and teamwork across all levels are essential. This role requires 80% travel and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Welding, cutting, and mechanical type repairs
• Understanding of documenting work performed and recording material usage
• Ensure that paperwork for railcar repairs is complete and correct
• Ensure that repair jobs are completed in a timely manner
• Ensure that vehicles and shops are kept clean & safe
• Ensure that the employees are working in a safe manner
• Assist with inspection and repairs as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:

Mechanical experience preferred, must have good communication and people skills with demonstrated ability to develop teamwork and work with all levels of personnel in achieving our goals.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to perform physical strenuous work
• Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
• Requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs
• Perform a rapid, horizontal hand torque action with a force of 100 lbs
• Travel Required 80% of time
