Job summary

NVIDIA is seeking an Architecture Energy Modeling Engineer for its Power Modeling, Methodology and Analysis Team. The role focuses on creating energy models that drive GPU efficiency and developing ML-based power models integrated into architectural and silicon design workflows.

The candidate will work with architects, designers, and performance engineers to identify workloads and model representations, with emphasis on energy-aware design decisions for future GPUs and Tegra SOCs.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently completed MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Strong coding skills, preferably in Python, C++.
  • Background in machine learning, AI, and/or statistical modeling.
  • Background in computer architecture and interest in energy-efficient GPU designs.
  • Familiarity with Verilog and ASIC design principles is a plus.
  • Ability to formulate and analyze algorithms, and comment on their runtime and memory complexities.
  • Basic understanding of fundamental concepts of energy consumption, estimation, and low power design.
  • Desire to bring quantitative decision-making and analytics to improve energy efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop energy models to analyze and reduce power consumption of NVIDIA GPUs.
  • Collaborate with Architects, ASIC Design Engineers, and other teams to study energy modeling techniques.
  • Develop ML-based power/energy models and training workflows.
  • Improve model accuracy with different representations and learning algorithms.
  • Estimate data movement power/energy accurately across design stages.
  • Integrate power/energy models into performance platforms for combined reporting.
  • Debug energy inefficiencies in workloads across silicon, RTL, and simulators.
  • Prototype new architectural features and assess system impact.
  • Contribute to studies for improving GPU perf/watt.
