Job summary

PayJoy, a Public Benefit Corporation, seeks an ML Platform Director to lead a team of ML/Software Engineers responsible for the end-to-end ML ecosystem: feature stores, model serving, ETL/feature architecture, and internal APIs.

You will bridge business strategy with technical execution, ensuring scalable, secure, and world-class infrastructure and align with Risk, Fraud, Product teams.

Qualifications

• PhD or master’s in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in Data Science or ML Engineering with 4+ years in leadership.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale ML systems and full ML lifecycle.
• Ability to design platform-scale solutions and review architecture at scale.
• Strong communication to non-technical stakeholders and executives.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical roadmap for ML platform, infra, and APIs.
• Mentor and manage Staff and Senior ML Engineers; drive code quality.
• Translate business goals into scalable technical requirements.
• Own long-term ML infrastructure vision, deployment, and MLOps.
• Guide professional growth and career paths for direct reports.
• Champion new technologies while maintaining stability and safety.
