Waymo LLC is seeking a software intern with a strong foundation in machine learning to research, implement, and evaluate state-of-the-art generative models for autonomous vehicle planning. You will contribute to ML-powered systems that enhance the Waymo Driver and enable faster scaling of the business.

The role requires pursuing an MS or PhD in CS/ML/Robotics, with hands-on experience in TensorFlow, JAX, or PyTorch and strong Python/C++ programming skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience with modern deep learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, JAX, PyTorch).
• Proficient programming skills (e.g., Python, C/C++).

Responsibilities

• Research, implement, and evaluate state-of-the-art generative models for autonomous vehicle planning.
• Develop ML-powered systems that enhance the capabilities of the ML driver and scale Waymo's business.
• Translate real-world driving challenges into well-defined ML problems using foundation models and reinforcement learning.
