Mariana Minerals is seeking a Machine Learning Engineering Manager to lead a team of MLEs focused on chemistry and process modeling. You will hire, mentor, and raise the bar for engineering and modeling quality while partnering with the TPM to align on what gets built and why.

The role combines hands-on review with strategic leadership, owning model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle discipline to ensure reliability in plant operations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in machine learning or scientific computing, including people management experience.
• Degree or equivalent depth in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, or related field.
• Hands-on track record shipping ML models to production for physical, scientific, or industrial systems.
• Strong engineering fundamentals: Python and modern ML frameworks; reproducible research code.
• Experience setting technical direction for a team in ambiguous environments.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication across audiences.

Responsibilities

• Manage, coach, and grow a team of ML engineers focused on chemistry and process problems, including hiring and performance reviews.
• Own the technical direction of the team: model architectures, data strategy, validation, and trust thresholds.
• Collaborate with a TPM on roadmaps and commitments, translating product priorities into scoped engineering work.
• Work with process engineers, chemists, and operators to ensure models answer real plant questions.
• Set rigor for physics-based modeling, ensuring mass/energy balance and uncertainty quantification.
• Oversee production lifecycle: deployment, monitoring, retraining, drift, and incident response.
