Job summary

Menzies Aviation in Milwaukee is seeking a Ramp Supervisor to oversee unloading/loading of luggage, freight and cargo on/off commercial aircraft. You will also drive small specialized vehicles. This role involves heavy lifting and frequent shifts across weather conditions.

Responsibilities include supervising ramp teams, mentoring staff, and ensuring safety compliance. Strong aviation experience, a valid US driver’s license, and the ability to pass background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Prior Ramp/Airline experience required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Possess valid US driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and all pre-employment testing.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Must be comfortable lifting 70lbs repetitively.
• Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions.
• Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Pass FBI background and obtain US Customs Seal.
• To report any significant deficiency in our products, materials and documents.
• Has a duty to suggest improvements to safety and security.

Responsibilities

• Supervise lead agents; allocating ramp agent resources as needed.
• Move cargo and baggage on and off aircraft and transport it between aircraft, terminals, air cargo facilities, and other aircraft.
• Ensure that ramp personnel adhere to established company safety regulations.
• Mentor and train new employees.
• Interviewing, hiring, training, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees as needed.
• Complete shift reports and sign timecards.
• Assist in the preparation of performance evaluation forms.
• Prepare disciplinary incident and termination reports.
• Assist in the baggage handling area.
• Conduct shift briefings to keep staff organized.
• Read and interpret loading instructions and labels; operate motorized equipment.

Role Purpose

The Ramp Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the unloading and loading of luggage, freight and cargo on and off commercial aircraft. The Ramp Supervisor will also drive and operate small specialized commercial vehicles. This position will require heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and stretching.

What you will be doing

• Supervise lead agents; allocating ramp agent resources as needed
• Move cargo and baggage on and off aircraft and transport it between aircraft, airport terminals, air cargo facilities, and other aircraft
• Ensure that ramp personnel adhere to established company safety regulations
• Perform as a mentor to other employees and provide training to new employees
• Some responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems as needed for violations of company policy
• Complete shift reports and sign timecards
• Assist in the preparation of performance evaluation forms
• Prepare disciplinary incident and or termination reports
• Assist in the baggage handling area
• Conduct shift briefings to ensure staff is organized and informed
• Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material identification labels, aircraft loading manifests, and baggage and cargo routing tags
• Operate motorized equipment
