Job summary

Doist in Nashville is seeking an entry-level Mixer I to learn and perform mixing of a variety of food products. The role requires following mix instructions, documenting production steps, and progressing through qualification requirements.

Training may occur on 1st or 2nd shift as chosen. You will operate and tend mixing equipment, monitor gauges, handle CIP skids, and perform housekeeping, packaging prep, and other duties as assigned.

Job description

This position is scheduled for 3rd shift, working from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Training may be completed on either 1st or 2nd shift based on the selected candidate's preference. The successful candidate will also be required to attend new hire orientation during the first three days of employment on 1st shift. Must be available to work overtime during the week and on weekends, as needed. Mixer I is the entry-level mixer position. Employees in this role are responsible for learning mixing processes, equipment operation, product specifications, safety requirements, and documentation procedures while progressing through established qualification requirements. Qualified mixer candidates must be able to perform a variety of jobs, tasks, or duties as required; and must be able to work their bid shift, overtime, and weekends as required. The tasks required, but not limited to, are general housekeeping, rework, preparing packaging, package product, food manufacturing, and other duties as assigned by supervision. Following mix instructions and provide clear concise documentation of production work.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Recipe construction/adjustment and understanding
  • Knowledge of process flow and tracing flow and lines throughout the process.
  • Understanding basic mix variations including salt content, moisture and color.
  • Operate and tend machines to mix or blend any of a wide variety of food products such as edible oils, dressings, margarines, spreads, shortenings, cooking Sherries, vinegars, cooking wines, etc.
  • Monitor and regulate gauges, recording instruments, flow meters, and thermometers to correctly adjust the addition of raw materials, mixing temperatures, mixing speeds, etc. to maintain product quality, and ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Operation of CIP skids in addition to breakdown and cleaning of line components.
  • Knowledge of chemical handling procedures including PPE required.
  • Perform a variety of jobs, tasks, or duties as required; and must be able to work their bid shift, overtime, and weekends as required.
  • Fill out appropriate documentation regarding product movements, batch sheets, and ingredients addition
  • Basic understanding of pumps, valves, and how to change filters.
  • Successfully pass qualification test and must have the ability to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, lift, bend, kneel, stand for long periods of time, work in confined spaces, and work with heights.
  • Successfully complete training and qualification requirements for assigned mixer systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to safely operate assigned equipment under the guidance of qualified personnel.
  • Learn and apply product specifications, process controls, quality standards, and food safety requirements.
  • Develop proficiency in equipment setup, operation, cleaning, and documentation procedures.
