Job summary

Wilkes County Veterinary Services in Washington, GA is seeking a Mixed Animal Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join a proud, community-focused practice serving companion animals, livestock, and large-animal patients.

This hands-on role supports veterinarians in hospital and on farm calls, includes after-hours on-call, and offers growth through HeadStart program and opportunities for LVT credentialed technicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ year of veterinary clinic, animal hospital, or animal care experience preferred.
• Large-animal experience strongly preferred, including livestock or equine.
• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credentials encouraged to apply.
• Ability to lift 40+ lbs. and stay active on feet for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures for small and large animals.
• Safely handle and restrain patients for examinations, diagnostics, surgery, and treatment.
• Assist with anesthesia, surgical procedures, and patient recovery.
• Perform or assist with laboratory testing, radiographs, vaccines, and fluid therapy.
• Maintain accurate patient records and support daily hospital workflow.
