Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts or Science in Education with an emphasis on Special Education.
• Licensed in Kansas to teach at the Functional Special Education/Low Incidence Level - K-6.
• Valid Kansas Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Plans according to state standards and student IEPs.
• Participates in pre-assessment teams for comprehensive student evaluation and IEP meetings.
• Defines and communicates daily expectations per state standards and IEPs.
• Communicates with parents and staff about instructional strategies and student progress.
• Maintains and inputs student progress data; coordinates schedules and communications.
• Provides differentiated instruction based on individual functioning and learning modalities.
• Manages classroom behavior and structures learning environments to meet IEP goals.
• Uses varied instructional presentations and assistive technology as appropriate.
• Prepares assessments and designs reinforcement aligned to objectives.
• Maintains daily records and supervises paraprofessionals.
• Supports school-wide activities and collaborations with teachers.
