Qualifications

  • Ability to follow detailed environmental protection protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform debris removal and cleaning for materials deposited on lands damaged by the declared disaster.
  • Remove disaster debris from both land areas and waterways.
  • Support restoration of land affected by disaster debris and soil erosion.
  • Coordinate with oversight departments on recovery priorities.
  • Assist with environmental impact assessment and documentation.
  • Support water quality protection efforts in waterways.
  • Perform erosion control to mitigate further health and economic impact on natural resources.
  • Document environmental conditions and recovery activities.
  • Follow required protocols.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with emergency and environmental staff.
  • Approach each day and task with a “ZAG” mindset.
  • Other duties and projects as needed.

TITLE: Mitigation and Restoration Worker (DRE WEX Position) – Sno-Valley Farms or Chinook Farms

REPORTS TO: Team Lead

LOCATION: Snohomish County, WA

EMPLOYMENT TYPE/FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Disaster Relief Employment (DRE)

HOURLY COMPENSATION RANGE: $20.18–$25.76 per hour

POSITION DURATION: 9 months (temporary disaster relief position)

POSITION SUMMARY: Career Team is looking to hire a Mitigation and Restoration Worker who will perform cleanup and recovery operations on lands within the declared disaster area, addressing disaster debris transported via waterways. Work is designed to mitigate environmental, health and economic impacts of the current disaster and limit ongoing damage to natural resources. This is a project-based position funded through 9 months, with the possibility of extension (depending on funding). The position is expected to be 100% onsite, performing Disaster Relief Employment work at Sno-Valley Farms or Chinook Farms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform debris removal and cleaning for materials deposited on lands damaged as a consequence of the declared disaster event.
  • Remove disaster debris from both land areas and waterways.
  • Support restoration of impacted land affected by disaster debris and soil erosion.
  • Coordinate with oversight departments on recovery priorities.
  • Assist with environmental impact assessment and documentation.
  • Support water quality protection efforts in waterways.
  • Perform erosion control to mitigate further health and economic impact on natural resources.
  • Document environmental conditions and recovery activities.
  • Follow required protocols.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with emergency and environmental staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical labor outdoors during wet, and challenging terrain conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work near waterways.
  • Valid Driver's License preferred.
  • Ability to follow detailed environmental protection protocols.
ELIGIBILITY
  1. Has been terminated, laid off, or received a notice of termination or layoff; OR
  2. Has been temporarily or permanently laid off as a consequence of emergency or disaster conditions related to recent flooding; OR
  3. Was self-employed but is now unemployed as a result of the economic impact of emergency or disaster conditions related to recent flooding; OR
  4. Is a military service member recently discharged or released under other than dishonorable conditions; OR
  5. Is a military spouse who experienced a PCS or ETS in the last 6 months; OR
  6. Up until recently relied on another immediate family member for financial support and no longer has that support; OR
  7. Has been unemployed for longer than 27 weeks.
