Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Mission Software Engineer II to own the ground segment software that enables spacecraft operations, including telemetry ingestion, commanding, and data distribution. You will work with flight software, avionics, RF/ground systems, and mission ops across lab and flight environments.

You will build operator interfaces, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment strategies, ensuring deterministic real-time behavior, observability, and scalable services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field with safety-critical software experience.
• 3+ years of experience in development of spacecraft or safety-critical software.
• Strong Python programming skills and real-time data handling.
• Experience with CI/CD, IaC, and observability tooling.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes in production environments.
• Familiarity with telemetry, data distribution, and mission control interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Own Ground Segment Services for telemetry ingestion, distribution, and commanding.
• Deliver operator-grade UIs and dashboards for ops efficiency.
• Build tools for flight-software simulations, device emulators, and tests.
• Design and productionize software for mission and ground teams with CI/CD and IaC.
• Create robust deployment patterns for lab benches, test stands, and mission networks.
