Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Mission Software engineer to own the ground segment software and mission platform. You will work at the intersection of telemetry, commanding, data acquisition, and mission control interfaces, collaborating with flight software, avionics, RF/ground systems, and mission ops.

The role emphasizes building reliable telemetry services, operator UIs, simulation tools, and self‑service pipelines with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS, math, physics, engineering or equivalent safety-critical software experience.
• 3+ years developing spacecraft or safety-critical software.
• Proficient Python development and language concepts.
• Strong systems fundamentals: concurrency, networking, performance and reliability.
• Experience building real-time data acquisition, low-latency messaging, and time-series stores.

Responsibilities

• Own Ground Segment Services: telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and commanding.
• Build operator-grade Mission Control UIs and dashboards.
• Develop simulation and test automation tools for avionics and ops.
• Design and productionize the mission platform with CI/CD and IaC.
• Create deployment patterns for lab benches and mission networks.
