Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist to derive mission-focused insights from large government datasets. The role combines mathematics, statistics, computer science, and domain knowledge to deliver actionable conclusions and communicate them to technical and non-technical audiences.

You will build models, develop reproducible workflows, and ensure data integrity across diverse datasets while engaging stakeholders to translate findings into operational decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3+ years’ relevant work experience.
• Experience with Python in a Unix environment.
• Experience using the Unix command line.
• Practical knowledge in Python Machine Learning and Data Visualization.
• Practical knowledge in Data ETL (SQL, CSV, JSON, Excel); Pandas and PySpark.
• Proficiency in statistical packages (Python, R, STATA, SPSS).
• Active TS/SCI with polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Build and assess analytic models tailored to mission-specific needs.
• Communicate principal conclusions clearly using math, stats, and CS methods.
• Develop reproducible workflows and ensure data integrity.
• Develop methods for exploring and assessing datasets in varying states of organization.
• Organize, clean, and curate large datasets for analysis.
• Present complex findings accessibly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
