Job summary

Rising Voices in Detroit, MI is seeking an Executive Director to lead fundraising, strategy, and operations in a collaborative, trauma-informed environment. The role reports to the Advisory Board and supervises the Deputy Director, with funding from both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities.

Responsibilities include developing external relationships, guiding overall programmatic and financial strategy, and ensuring strong governance while maintaining a healthy organizational culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least five years in community, labor and/or electoral organizing.
• Experience in non-profit management and supervising a team.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal politics for campaign direction.
• Knowledge of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) compliance.
• Knowledge of grant writing and fundraising.
• Knowledge of budget-making and basic accounting.
• Skilled at writing and public speaking.
• Skilled at relational organizing.
• Skilled at training, mentorship and leadership development.
• Ability to lead with compassion and empathy and resolve conflicts.

Responsibilities

• Articulate and steer implementation of the organization's mission, vision, and strategy.
• Oversee fundraising, external relationships, and board engagement.
• Oversee financial management, budgets, and reporting with the fiscal sponsor.
• Supervise the Deputy Director and drive governance and organizational culture.
