Job summary

Nashville CARES is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting functions in a nonprofit setting in Nashville, TN. The role reports to the Controller and ensures accurate financial records, controls, and reporting.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting with four years of professional accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and experience with computerized systems and Excel. This full-time exempt position offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Four years of professional accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP.
• Experience with computerized financial record-keeping systems.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and initiative with confidential information.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Team-oriented with the ability to work with internal and external customers.
• Valid Tennessee driver’s license and automobile liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records for the organization.
• Oversee general ledger accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month-end close.
• Review and approve work batches completed by the Accountant and Accounts Payable Specialist.
• Maintain regular reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
• Research and resolve discrepancies identified through account reconciliations.
• Assist with the preparation of internal and external financial reports and projections.
• Support the annual independent audit and site visits as needed.
• Collaborate with accounting team members to support day-to-day financial operations.
