Job summary

Nashville CARES is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations in Nashville, TN. You will oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, month‑end close, reconciliations, internal controls, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance for a nonprofit organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• Four years of professional accounting experience required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with computerized financial record-keeping systems.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to exercise discretion and handle confidential information.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Team-oriented with ability to work with internal and external customers.
• Valid Tennessee driver’s license and automobile liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month‑end close.
• Maintain regular reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and research discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with applicable financial requirements and funder requirements.
• Assist with internal and external financial reporting and audits.
• Collaborate with accounting team and serve as a backup when needed.
