Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges in Livingston, NJ is seeking a part-time group fitness instructor to lead energizing, safe wellness classes for diverse members. You will engage participants, adapt to abilities, and promote healthy living in line with YMCA values.

Requirements include a nationally recognized group fitness certification and at least one year of teaching experience, with the ability to offer multiple formats.

Qualifications

• Current required group fitness certification from a nationally recognized organization.
• Minimum one year of experience teaching group wellness classes.
• Ability to teach two or more class formats.
• Certifications subject to annual audit.

Responsibilities

• Leads energizing, safe, and educational group fitness classes.
• Asks and answers questions from program participants and members to support health goals.
• Maintains working knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective information and support to members.
• Instructors adhere to the scheduled format and description of the class.
• Builds authentic relationships with members and helps connect with the YMCA.
• Observes and adjusts approach to support participants’ capabilities, health, and culture.
• Celebrates achievements related to program and personal health goals.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergencies.
• Keeps accurate class attendance record.
• Contacts supervisor with equipment issues.
• Music selection aligns with YMCA positioning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
