Job summary

Shrine Coffee in Santa Cruz, CA, seeks a General Manager to lead daily operations, culture, and hospitality aligned with the Shrine’s mission. You will mentor a team, manage budgets and inventory, and work closely with the Shrine Director to ensure the shop reflects the life of the Shrine.

The role requires management experience in cafe/hospitality, a California Food Service Manager Certification or ability to obtain, and a 40-hour workweek with variable hours including mornings and weekends.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of management or supervisory experience in food service, hospitality, or retail.
• Extensive barista experience and knowledge of specialty coffee preferred.
• Ability to lead, train, and motivate a team.
• Strong organizational and financial management skills.

Responsibilities

• Set the tone of warmth and hospitality that defines Shrine Coffee and cultivate it in the team.
• Oversee day-to-day operations: opening/closing, scheduling, workflow, quality standards.
• Manage vendor relationships, inventory, and ordering to control costs while maintaining quality.
• Recruit, train, and schedule baristas and staff in coordination with Shrine Director.
• Prepare regular financial and operational reports for the Shrine Director.
• Maintain branding and social media to reflect the Shrine's identity.
