Job summary

Adams Electric Company is looking for a Hyperscale Datacenter Electrical Construction Project Manager to lead the management of construction projects in Conover, North Carolina. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of experience in mission-critical project management, excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as proficiency in various project management tools. This role involves overseeing project schedules, managing subcontractor relationships, and ensuring adherence to safety standards. Candidates with a BS in Construction Management or equivalent experience are preferred.

General Position Summary

Adams Electric Company is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and passionate Hyperscale Datacenter Electrical Construction Project Manager. Join our outstanding team of skilled project managers and our operations team to build exciting projects that make an imprint on the community for future generations.

Responsibilities
Pre‑Construction
  • Plan and prepare all contract administration, execute and direct project activities, and develop or maintain client relationships.
  • Set up jobs, including creating cost budgets, schedules of values, re‑estimates, reviewing and executing subcontracts, and purchase orders with accurate Bill of Materials.
  • Price and procure subcontractor packages related to Adams scope of work, ensuring consistency with drawings, specs, and bid packages.
  • Price and procure major material packages (particularly Switchgear, Lighting, and Commodities) related to Adams scope of work.
  • Procure, submit, and manage the submittal process related to Adams scope of work.
VDC/BIM
  • Provide general oversight for VDC/BIM specific to the project.
  • Work with the Project Operations Manager and VDC/BIM Manager to create a VDC/BIM plan, including layout lead and schedule coordination.
  • Assist the Superintendent with BIM layout efforts before the project.
  • Review drawings regularly with VDC/BIM Manager and Superintendent to ensure quality control of content and constructability.
Pre‑Fabrication
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent, Construction Resources Director, and Project Operations Manager to create and maintain a pre‑fabrication plan.
  • Manage delivery of pre‑fabrication assemblies and installation schedules with the Superintendent.
  • Explore opportunities for pre‑fabrication in all work areas.
Material Management / Jobsite Logistics
  • Create and maintain material management and logistics plans for current projects.
  • Ensure a quality control plan that all material meets project specifications.
  • Develop material management and jobsite logistics plans before the project starts with the Superintendent, Field Operations Manager, and Project Operations Manager.
  • Implement and adjust the plan throughout the project with the Supervisor, Vendor Partners, and managers.
  • Procure, manage, and maintain equipment on project, including company vehicles, rentals, tools, and leased equipment.
Scheduling
  • Create and maintain project schedules and staffing projections.
  • Develop field organization charts with the Superintendent, Field Operations Manager, and Project Operations Manager.
  • Update schedule and manpower projections weekly with the Superintendent and Field Operation Manager.
Subcontractor Management
  • Oversee all subcontractor scopes of work.
  • Ensure timely completion of all submittal deliverables.
  • Monitor subcontractor manpower to meet project schedules.
  • Ensure all subcontractor work meets project requirements.
  • Manage the billing process for individual subcontractors.
Safety
  • Create and maintain a safety plan for current projects with the Superintendent.
  • Develop a project‑specific safety plan with the Onsite Safety Manager.
  • Ensure adherence to both project‑specific safety plans and Adams Electric company standards with all site personnel.
Quality Control
  • Create and maintain QA/QC plans with the Project Superintendent, Onsite QA/QC Manager, and Field Operation Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, internal punch lists, contractor punch lists, and owner/design team punch lists.
  • Review and analyze project documents; plans and specifications; direct construction activities; resolve construction challenges; coordinate field installations and project closings; and develop and maintain client relationships, all within project cost, time, and quality standards.
    • Material and Equipment Tracking Procurement
    • Preparation of RFI (Request For Information)
Cost / Change Management
  • Review, price, and manage all project scope and coordination changes, ensuring pricing meets Adams, GC, and owner standards.
  • Track and follow up on open change orders.
  • Prepare and submit WIP reviews with monthly progress and cost tracking reports.
  • Provide monthly reporting on key items such as job set up, contract amounts and billings, change orders, costs to date, manpower projections, billing status, purchase orders, project completion estimates, accounts receivable, and schedule milestones.
Externally
  • Develop relationships and build trust with owners, owner representatives, architects, engineers, trade contractors, vendors, and related parties.
  • Serve on committees and participate in special trade-related activities and events.
Qualifications
  • BS in Construction Management or equivalent studies/experience.
  • 5–10 years of experience in Mission Critical Project Management with an Electrical Contractor.
  • Proven people, process, and performance management skills.
  • Knowledge of financial software, accounting practices, change order pricing, and billings.
  • Strong budget tracking, labor tracking, and scheduling skills.
  • Ability to review drawings for change order pricing and material procurement.
  • Proficiency in information analysis and budget setup.
  • Strong written, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task and recollect past projects.
  • Spectrum experience, estimation software, and electrical field experience (plus).
  • Leadership skills and ability to motivate team members.
    • Functions effectively as part of a team.
    • Self‑motivated by inner goals.
    • Maintains discretion and confidentiality at all times.
    • Positive "can‑do" attitude is a must.
Work Environment / Job Conditions

This job requires frequent sitting and computer work, which may involve repetitive motions of the hands, fingers, and wrists. Candidates must be able to navigate a jobsite and comply with all safety regulations in the office and on the jobsite.

Required Skills

Associate Degree and/or relevant work experience within the Construction Industry is also considered in lieu of a degree. Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bluebeam Revu, estimating and scheduling software is a plus.
