Job summary

ARCO Companies is seeking a Design/Build Manager to lead project performance and profitability from day one. You’ll manage estimating, scheduling, coordination with design teams, and buyout of subcontractors, while upholding safety and quality standards in ground-up, commercial projects.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Engineering or Construction Management with 3–10 years of construction management experience and proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Construction Management or related field required
  • Electrical and Mechanical Eng degrees highly valued
  • Experience in ground-up, commercial construction projects preferred
  • Able to estimate, schedule, report progress and oversee safety
  • Strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction

Responsibilities

  • Manage managerial and administrative aspects of a project including estimating, scheduling, quality control, progress reports and billing
  • Ensure accurate and complete project estimates
  • Collaborate with owners and design team on preliminary drawings
  • Participate in owner meetings to review scope and value engineering ideas
  • Oversee buyout process and subcontractor selection
  • Conduct bi-weekly on-site job site meetings
  • Make sound decisions under tight deadlines
  • Organize and manage multiple activities to achieve results

A DAY IN THE LIFE
  • Responsible for managerial and administrative aspects of a project. Including estimating, scheduling, quality control, progress reports, progress billing, design review and coordination, cost reporting, safety, and proposal preparation
  • Ensure an accurate and complete project estimate
  • Work closely with owners and the design team to develop preliminary concept drawings
  • Participate in the proposal meeting with the owner to review the scope of work, discuss ways to reduce costs, and provide value engineering ideas
  • Oversee the buyout process and the selection of subcontractors
  • Conduct bi-weekly job site meetings on site
  • Make sound decisions under tight deadlines
  • Organize, plan, and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results
  • Commit to quality by evaluating project-related processes
  • Make necessary changes, use customer input to make improvements, and meet/exceed internal and external client expectations
  • Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and other associates, while maintaining a constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; Electrical and Mechanical Engineering degrees highly valued.
  • 3-10 years of construction management experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager (or related role) on ground-up, commercial projects.
  • Ability to effectively make sound decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to organize, plan and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results.
  • Exhibit commitment to quality by evaluating project-related processes. Make necessary changes, use customer input to make improvements, and meet/exceed internal and external customer expectations.
  • Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and the employees, while maintaining constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
  • Computer skills: proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Project.
