Job summary

Envision Innovative Solutions seeks a Principal Software Engineer to join the Annapolis Junction, MD team in a hybrid capacity. The role focuses on leading software design and delivery for mission‑critical defense and intelligence programs.

You will guide architecture, mentor engineers, and collaborate with the Chief Engineer to define feature specifications and deliver high‑quality software across frontend and backend stacks. Compensation reflects federal contracting norms and location.

Qualifications

• Twenty (20) or more years of experience with web application/front-end languages and technologies and a technical degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and modern backend/frontend stacks.
• Proficiency with Git, Docker/Kubernetes, and high-availability web servers (HAProxy, Nginx).
• Hands-on experience with Node.js, Angular, React, NoSQL and relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and enhance software solutions.
• Provide technical leadership on high‑impact projects.
• Facilitate alignment and clarity on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Collaborate with the Chief Engineer on feature specs and product builds.
• Conduct design and code reviews.
• Tackle diverse problems requiring data-driven analysis.
• Demonstrate sound judgment in selecting methods for solutions.
• Complete medium to large features independently without mandatory guidance.
• Identify and drive changes across codebase, product area, or systems.
