Job summary

ERG is seeking a Generator Technician to support inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of emergency and standby power systems at the Naval Support Facility Indian Head.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of experience with diesel and natural gas generators, can read electrical schematics, and meet pre-employment physical and DoD clearance requirements. ERG offers competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience maintaining and repairing generator systems.
• Experience with diesel, natural gas, and propane generators and electrical controls.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals; PM program familiarity a plus.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on generators (diesel, natural gas, propane).
• Conduct load bank testing and operational exercises of emergency power systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, and control system issues.
• Review manuals, schematics, and manufacturer specs to diagnose problems.
• Respond to failures and emergencies to restore critical power systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and client procedures.
