Suffolk Construction seeks a Director of Estimating for the Mission Critical team to drive bid strategy and manage staff. The role focuses on delivering accurate estimates, building templates, and coordinating material and labor pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.

You will mentor staff, perform performance reviews, and participate in executive planning. Strong leadership and extensive experience in mission critical projects are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field.
• 10+ years of experience estimating Mission Critical projects.
• Quantity Take off skills and computer skills.
• Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and Word processing programs.
• Ability to work with and manage a team.
• Understanding of Construction Documents specific to Mission Critical projects.
• Knowledge of the contents of each CSI section.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints at SD, DD and CD phases.
• Coordinate construction document plans, details and specifications.
• Apply CD details to a conceptual set of documents to capture all cost impacts.
• Discuss strategy with the team for holes, value management, or potential profit pockets.

Responsabilités

• Assign Estimating staff to projects and balance workload.
• Lead bid strategies and deliver timely bids.
• Create estimating templates, tools and monthly reports.
• Prepare detailed take offs and labor estimates.
• Solicit material prices and prepare unit prices.
• Review subcontractor bids and ensure bid form alignment.
• Monitor market conditions and adjust pricing.
• Develop talent through coaching and performance reviews.
