Job summary

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Atlanta Field Division, is seeking qualified candidates for positions supporting BOS activities at GSU and FPU levels. Responsibilities include administrative, human resource liaison, property, security, and records management, with emphasis on accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Qualifying experience must demonstrate: administrative and operational support for a group, human resource liaison, personal property management, or security.
  • For GS-07, one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05, including preparing reports and correspondence.
  • For GS-09, one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07, including providing guidance on administrative matters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and operational functions in support of office activities.
  • Assist with data gathering and analysis to identify inaccuracies.
  • Prepare reports, briefings, and correspondence.

Education

Graduate-level education (1 full academic year)
Superior Academic Achievement (Bachelor's with top third GPA)
Master's degree or equivalent for GS-09

Job description

This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Atlanta Field Division. This position(s) primary purpose is to support the Outlying Office (OO) related to GSU and FPU level BOS activities involving: administrative, human resource liaison, fleet management, personal property (accountable and non-accountable) management, security (personnel, physical, and information/communication), inspections/internal control, logistics, TFO management, Imprest, and records management.

Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcript with your application.

Applicants applying for the GS-07 must meet one of the following requirements:

A. Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-05 grade level and your experience must include performing ALL of the tasks below as part of your regular duties. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing administrative and operational functions in support of a group related to activities involving administrative; human resource liaison, personal property management, OR personnel or physical security; 2) Conducting routine law enforcement searches and queries; 3) Assisting with gathering and analyzing data to identify inaccuracies; and, 4) Preparing various administrative documents such as reports and correspondence.

B. Education: Completed one full academic year of graduate-level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR

Superior Academic Achievement: Successfully completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree and am claiming Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing - You must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - You must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (c) Honor Society Membership - You may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/).

OR

C. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Applicants applying for the GS-09 must meet one of the following requirements:

A. Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-07 grade level and your experience must include performing ALL of the tasks below as part of your regular duties. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing administrative and operational functions in support of an office related to activities involving administrative, human resource liaison, personal property management, OR personnel or physical security; 2) Conducting complex and unique law enforcement searches and queries; 3) Gathering and analyzing data to identify inaccuracies; 4) Preparing various administrative documents such as reports, briefings, and correspondence; and, 5) Providing authoritative guidance to an organization on administrative matters.

B. Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

OR

C. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
