Job summary

The Cobb Judicial Circuit is seeking an Assistant Solicitor General to prosecute misdemeanor violations and represent the State in all court proceedings. The ASG will handle case preparation, negotiation, and appellate support while collaborating with trial staff and partners across the office.

Required are a JD from an accredited law school, Georgia Bar admission, strong research/analytic abilities, and excellent negotiation and courtroom skills.

Qualifications

• JD from accredited law school.
• Admission to Georgia State Bar.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Courtroom experience and ability to advocate effectively.
• Knowledge of legal software and case management systems.

Responsibilities

• Prosecute misdemeanor violations and respond to motions.
• Litigate criminal cases, argue hearings, and handle trials.
• Prepare cases for trial with investigation and evidence collection.
• Comply with Marsy’s Law during witness interactions.
• Represent the State in all court proceedings.
• Interface with trial partners, staff, victim advocates, investigators, and the public.
• Assist other prosecutors in court as needed.
• Manage and notate case progress with office systems.
• Negotiate cases to reach fair resolutions.
• Assist Appellate Attorney with drafting appeals.
• Work across courts: Traffic, Magistrate, Juvenile, etc.
• Take on additional tasks as assigned.
