Job summary

The Production Internship at Martin Marietta in Idaho Springs is a 10-week, hands-on program designed to expose students to Aggregates operations. Reporting to plant leadership, interns will engage in operational training, safety management, and production support within a live mining environment.

The experience covers quarry planning, production scheduling, material flow, quality control, and leadership development, with emphasis on teamwork and safety, to prepare future operations

Qualifications

• MSHA compliance and mining industry familiarity.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• Strong time management and leadership potential.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a hands-on internship.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety culture and environmental standards.
• Observe, identify, and communicate safety concerns, near misses, and potential risks.
• Assist with MSHA and environmental regulation compliance and safety policies.
• Support inspections, safety audits, corrective actions, and incident prevention.
• Learn and support all stages of aggregate production from extraction through finished product shipment.
• Gain understanding of quarry planning, production scheduling, and material flow management.
• Assist in monitoring plant performance, operating efficiency, and production targets.
• Observe and participate in daily production activities under supervision.
• Support production teams in maintaining throughput and product quality.
• Develop knowledge of material processing equipment and system interactions.
• Safely operate designated plant and mobile equipment after training.
• Participate in aggregate quality control testing and material sampling.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications and product standards.
• Collaborate with plant managers and leaders to understand leadership practices.
