Caterpillar is hiring a MineStar Onboard Specialist to be the on-site, hands-on expert supporting Cat MineStar Command for hauling, its autonomous haulage system, at a mine site in Northern Nevada, acting as the key link between the customer, dealer teams and Caterpillar engineering and product support. The specialist owns onboard hardware health and availability for the Command-equipped truck fleet, manages machine and system integration, troubleshoots field issues and tracks them to resolution, analyzes autonomy and base machine fault data for root-cause problem solving, reports hardware and software status and critical failures, and coaches customer personnel and teammates; the role guides and troubleshoots rather than performing the physical maintenance. Candidates need experience in mining technology, strong practical mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting experience on haul trucks or similar heavy mobile equipment, and the ability to work with radios, networks and off-board communications in a mine environment; prior Cat MineStar experience and a degree or technical training in electrical, mechanical, mechatronic or mining engineering are preferred, and structured product training is provided. The role works a 7-days-on/7-days-off day-shift roster, driving to the site (about two hours from Reno) and staying in customer-provided accommodations during each shift; living near Reno or Winnemucca is ideal. Domestic relocation assistance is available; sponsorship is not. The summary pay range is $97,530 to $146,290, with medical, dental and vision benefits, a 401(k), incentive bonus and tuition reimbursement; the posting runs October 27 to November 10, 2026.
