Job summary

FLSmidth Mackay Workshop is seeking an experienced Trades Assistant to support the stripping, assessment, refurbishment and assembly of OEM mining equipment. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical aptitude, safety focus and the ability to work well within a team to deliver first-time quality outcomes.

You will perform inspections, document work, operate in a safety-first environment and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while developing your skills with industry-leading

Qualifications

• Experience in workshop or mining equipment maintenance, refurbishment and assembly.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Forklift operation experience and valid forklift licence.
• Current valid driver’s licence.
• Desirable Dogman and Rigging High Risk Work licences.
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Good physical fitness and work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Strip, assess, repair and refurbish mineral processing equipment.
• Assemble and install components per procedures and drawings.
• Inspect equipment for wear and defects and document findings.
• Complete workshop reports and maintain records.
• Keep the workshop clean and adhere to safety requirements.
• Participate in on-the-job training and continuous improvement.
• Support safety, quality and teamwork initiatives.
