Job summary

Heidelberg Materials NE LLC invites students in Mining Engineering or Geology to join a field-oriented internship. You will support plant operations, partner with engineers and production staff, and contribute to technical projects that illuminate quarry and aggregate site operations.

Expect a mix of office and field work with emphasis on health, safety, and environmental compliance as you develop practical knowledge and professional skills in a globally active materials company.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in Mining Engineering or Geology and pursuing a degree.
  • Demonstrated openness to change and adaptability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams and manage several projects.

Responsibilities

  • Apply classroom learning to field-enabled project work supporting plant operations.
  • Assist engineers, managers, and production staff to meet production goals.
  • Complete technical projects to understand quarry or aggregate site operations.
  • Learn production, maintenance, and quality department functions.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

What You'll Be Doing:

Put your education into action in the field to support and participate in assigned project work. Support the plant operations in achieving production goals while partnering with experienced engineers, managers, and production employees in different departments. Complete technical projects to gain an understanding of the operations of a quarry or aggregate site. Learn the mission of the production, maintenance, and quality departments and different job and functions.

Ensures compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

What Are We Looking For:
  • Current sophomores, juniors and seniors working toward a degree in Mining Engineering or Geology
  • Commitment and engagement through a high level of work ethic and utilization of abilities for the best of the company
  • Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Work Environment:

Combination of office and field work. Exposure to various weather conditions. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
