Qualifications

• MD/DO from an accredited institution.

• Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) from an AAGL-recognized or equivalent program.
• Board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG or AOA).
• Advanced surgical competency in laparoscopic, robotic-assisted, and hysteroscopic techniques for complex benign gynecologic disease.
• Robotic surgery certification with high-volume robotic experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high-volume surgical and clinical practice with complex laparoscopic/robotic cases.
• Serve as departmental trainer for laparoscopic/robotic techniques and program development.
• Provide outpatient MIGS clinic and pre/postoperative evaluation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for tumor boards and complex gynecologic care.
• Participate in education of residents and fellows and contribute to scholarly activity.

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a fellowship trained Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) physician to join our Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The successful candidate will provide expert, evidence-based, and patient-centered surgical and clinical care for patients with complex benign gynecologic conditions, with expertise in advanced laparoscopic, robotic-assisted, and hysteroscopic procedures.

This position is focused on growing a high-volume surgical practice, dedicated outpatient gynecologic clinic, and active participation in resident and fellow education. The physician will serve as a key resource for complex surgical referrals within the department and across affiliated specialties. Academic responsibilities including teaching, research, and scholarly activity.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Completion of a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) from an AAGL-recognized or equivalent accredited program
• Board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG or AOA)
• Demonstrated advanced surgical competency in laparoscopic, robotic-assisted, and hysteroscopic techniques for complex benign gynecologic disease
• Robotic surgery certification and demonstrated high-volume robotic experience (da Vinci or equivalent platform)
• Experience with complex endometriosis surgery including bowel, bladder, and ureter involvement
• Experience with uterine-sparing procedures including laparoscopic and robotic myomectomy for complex fibroids
• Prior experience in graduate medical education, resident or fellow teaching and surgical training
• Familiarity with enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols in gynecology
• Experience with outpatient and office-based gynecologic procedures

Clinical Responsibilities

• The physician will maintain a high-volume surgical and clinical practice Perform complex laparoscopic and/or robotic procedures including laparoscopic hysterectomy for large uteri, laparoscopic myomectomy for complex, multiple, or large uterine fibroids, laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis ranging from superficial peritoneal disease to deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) involving the bowel, bladder, ureters, and pelvic sidewalls, and complex cases with prior abdominal or pelvic surgery, significant adhesive disease, or distorted anatomy
• Serve as a departmental resource and trainer for laparoscopic and/or robotic gynecologic surgery technique and program development
• Perform diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy including polypectomy, myomectomy, endometrial ablation, septum resection, and management of intrauterine adhesions (Asherman syndrome)
• Provide office-based procedures including endometrial biopsy, IUD placement and removal, and in-office hysteroscopy
• Maintain a dedicated outpatient MIGS clinic for new patient consultations, preoperative evaluations, and postoperative follow-up
• Provide comprehensive evaluation and management of uterine fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, ovarian masses, and chronic pelvic pain
• Evaluate and manage abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) across all PALM-COEIN etiologies with both medical and surgical approaches
• Counsel patients on the full spectrum of medical, procedural, and surgical options with emphasis on shared decision-making and uterine-sparing approaches where appropriate
• Manage perioperative care including preoperative workup, surgical planning, and postoperative recovery
• Accept referrals from within the department and from community providers for complex gynecologic surgical cases
• Serve as a surgical collaborator with Oncology, Urogynecology, Colorectal Surgery, Urology, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine for cases with complex gynecologic surgical needs
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, endometriosis centers of excellence conferences, and fibroid management programs as applicable
• Collaborate with Radiology, Pathology, and Anesthesia to optimize surgical planning and patient outcomes
• Contribute to development of clinical care pathways and ERAS protocols for gynecologic surgery
• Participate in robotic surgery quality review and credentialing processes

Call coverage responsibilities are primarily for benign gynecologic emergencies and postoperative patient needs. Demonstrate commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based gynecologic surgical care and shared decision-making

• Engage actively in quality improvement, patient safety, and departmental surgical outcome tracking
• Collaborate effectively with nursing, surgical technicians, anesthesia, OR coordination, scheduling, and all interdisciplinary team members
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) including operative reports, clinic notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with institutional standards
• Respond to patient calls, portal messages, and urgent postoperative needs in a timely and professional manner
• Participate in department, division, and institutional committee service as requested
• Support departmental initiatives in surgical volume growth, access to care, and program development

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work is $400,000 to $600,000 per year.
