The position requires a valid driver’s license, a clean background check including MVR, CPR/First Aid certification within 60 days, and preferred CDL with school bus and passenger endorsements.

Qualifications

• Current driver's license required.
• Background check including a clean Motor Vehicle Report.
• CDL with school bus and passenger endorsements preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of driving experience.
• 21 years of age or older.
• Certifications required within 60 days of hire; CPR/AED/First Aid.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.

Responsibilities

• Drive minibus safely according to YMCA policies, procedures, and state laws.
• Maintain minibus in an orderly and clean fashion.
• Complete thorough checks before and after every trip, recording all information.
• Record gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms.
• Clean minibus after last use.
• Promote safety and keep first aid supplies stocked.
• Announce minibus rules prior to departure for each trip.
• Develop friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
• Communicate regularly with other staff and supervisor.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

The driver creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing safe transportation of program participants to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

• Drive minibus safely according to YMCA policies, procedures, and state laws.
• Maintain minibus in an orderly and clean fashion.
• Complete thorough checks before and after every trip, recording all information.
• Record gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms.
• Clean minibus out each day after last use.
• Always promote safety, keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.
• Announce minibus rules prior to departure for each trip.
• Develop friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
• Communicate regularly with other staff and supervisor.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
