Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. in Ishpeming, MI is seeking a Mine Planning Engineer to develop short-range mine plans and schedules, reconciling performance with plans and coordinating with operations for safe, efficient execution.

Qualifications include a BS in Mining Engineering and 5+ years in open pit mining, with strong analytical and communication skills. Experience with Vulcan or Modular Dispatch is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum BS in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in open pit mining.
• High computer literacy incl. mine design software.
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop short-range mine plans (daily, weekly to monthly) following Plans and designs.
• Develop daily and weekly schedules, including ore blending and equipment projections.
• Perform reconciliation and reporting/analysis of actual vs. plan.
• Consider safety, environmental, and plant constraints in planning and scheduling.
• Work with operations to understand constraints and optimize schedules.
• Provide required schedules for safe and efficient plan execution.
• Identify opportunities for improvements in plans, execution and tools.
