Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Mine Planning Engineer to join the Enterprise Excellence team, supporting open-pit quarry, sand and gravel operations, and continuous improvement of business processes across the enterprise.

You will develop short-, mid-range, and life-of-mine plans, analyze geological data, evaluate extraction sequences and equipment utilization, conduct feasibility studies, and collaborate with operations to drive cost-effective, safe site development and plan execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining, geological, or civil engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in mine planning, preferably for aggregate or industrial mineral mining operations.
• Experience developing mine plans for surface and underground operations.
• Experience with exploration drilling and geologic interpretation.
• Professional engineer (PE) or geologist (PG) license is preferred or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Perform and/or support mine planning for open pit and sand and gravel operations.
• Lead continuous improvement in mine planning through standards and best practices.
• Develop short-, mid-range, and life-of-mine plans for quarries, pits, and mines.
• Analyze geological data and optimize extraction sequences and equipment use.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects.
• Monitor mining progress and address deviations with reconciliation plans.
• Collaborate with operations and support teams on plan execution.
• Provide creative solutions for mine planning and site development, with cost-effective options.
