Job summary

Prairie State Generating Company is seeking a Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on underground and surface mining equipment. The role requires working various shifts, possible overtime, and strict adherence to SWPs, safety, and MSHA regulations.

You will diagnose failures, train junior staff, and document maintenance activities to keep mine operations safe and efficient.

Qualifications

• High School or GED diploma required.
• 1.5+ years in Operations or Maintenance in mining industry desired/preferred.
• 3+ years in heavy equipment rebuild shop desired/preferred.
• Valid MSHA electrical card preferred.
• Welding and cutting certifications/training desired/preferred.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical maintenance for mining equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment underground and surface at the mine location.
• Diagnose failures using manuals and schematics.
• Train less experienced employees in preventive maintenance and routine service.
• Develop maintenance procedures to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Utilize SWP’s, job plans and service manuals to ensure safe, efficient work practices.
• Perform scheduled preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance and complete required paperwork.
