Job summary

Prairie State Generating Company is seeking a Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems in a mine setting both underground and on the surface.

Responsibilities include diagnosing failures, training staff, developing procedures, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance. Lightweight physical requirements are noted; safety and compliance with MSHA standards are essential.

Qualifications

• High School or GED diploma required.
• 1.5+ years’ mining operations or maintenance experience preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience in a heavy equipment rebuild shop preferred.
• MSHA electrical card preferred.
• Welding and cutting certifications/training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain underground and surface equipment, including miners, haulage, roof bolters, scoops, feeders, ventilation and power distribution.
• Diagnose failures using manuals and schematics; read hydraulic/electrical diagrams.
• Train less experienced employees in preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Assist in developing maintenance procedures to ensure safe, reliable operation.
• Perform scheduled preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance; complete paperwork promptly.
