Job summary

SSR Mining Inc. in Nevada seeks a Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain and repair hauling and support equipment on a rotating 5/4 days/nights schedule.

You will troubleshoot using diagnostics, implement maintenance strategies, and ensure safe, efficient mine operations while aligning with SOPs and environmental policies.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively in English using standard business communication
• Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
• Clear understanding and willingness to observe and practice company SOPs and policies
• Strong understanding of safety policies and procedures relating to mine equipment and maintenance practices
• Knowledge and skills to operate and understand diagnostic equipment including computerized instrumentation

• Valid Driver License Required

Responsibilities

• Lead by example in safety processes and ensure safe practices while performing work
• Utilize computer systems to troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment, including preventive maintenance
• Improve maintenance strategy to maximize equipment availability
• Interpret schematics, maintenance and parts manuals
• Perform work area housekeeping duties
• Ensure work areas are safe and hazard-free
• Conduct Field Level Risk Assessments
• Estimate repair times and downtime
• Order correct parts from warehouse or suppliers

• Mitigate spills and environmental impacts promptly

Job Description:

General Objectives: Reporting to the rotating shift Supervisor, the heavy duty mechanic typically works a rotating 5/4 days/nights schedule. The mechanic repairs and maintains all hauling and support equipment through planned maintenance scheduling; monitors equipment; communicates equipment needs and issues; partners with operations departments and mobile planning to provide both tactical and strategic support for the needs of the mine to operate in an effective, efficient and safe manner.

Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:

• Lead by example, in all of Marigold’s safety processes, ensuring safe practices are utilized while performing work.
• Utilizes computer technology and a work order system to troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment, including preventative maintenance and component replacement.
• Implements continuous improvement of maintenance strategy that fully utilizes available workforce to achieve maximum equipment availability.
• Interprets information from schematics, maintenance and parts manuals.
• Performs work area housekeeping duties.
• Determines if work areas are safe and free of hazards.
• Performs Field Level Risk Assessments.
• Determines severity of equipment down times and estimates time to make repairs.
• Ability to order correct parts for procurement from the warehouse or supplier.
• Responsible for compliance with company contamination control policies.
• Unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship including immediately reporting and mitigating spills and other environmental impacts.

Required Skills:

• Must be able to communicate effectively, in English using all standard forms of business communication

• Clear understanding and willingness to observe and practice company SOPs and policies
• Strong understanding of safety policies and procedures relating to mine equipment and maintenance practices (i.e. guarding, blocking, lock out tag out)
• Knowledge and skills to operate and understand diagnostic equipment including computerized instrumentation

• Valid Driver License Required

Experience:

• Own and maintain required personal tools as per the technician’s level of expertise
• Individuals with strong experience in heavy equipment - hydraulic and electrical systems preferred
• Understanding of failure and wear analysis
