Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Leadville, CO is seeking a skilled mechanic to diagnose, maintain and repair heavy equipment such as haul trucks, loaders and graders.

The Fuel Dock Attendant will also fuel equipment, manage spill cleanup and support yard operations, rotating through Lube Truck and Tool Room about every six months. Candidates must have at least one year in a related trade, the ability to read schematics, and good English communication.

Qualifications

  • At least one year in relevant Trade or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures and applicable safety standards.
  • Ability to read and use schematics.
  • Possesses knowledge of machine systems, such as hydraulic, power train, and engines.

Responsibilities

  • Will Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems such as hydraulic, power train and engines.
  • Duties will include fueling equipment, managing spill cleanup, maintaining clear and safe access routes, and coordinating earthwork and snow removal.
  • You may operate equipment such as: Overhead cranes, forklifts, skid steers, haul trucks, motor graders, rubber tire and track dozers, front-end loaders, backhoes, snowblowers and boom trucks.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining work orders and a clean and safe work area. Will perform work area inspections.
  • This position supports waste management, restocks supplies, and maintains cleanliness across the area including break rooms and restrooms.

What You Will Do

We are looking for a skilled mechanic, who under direct supervision, can safely perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as, but not limited to: Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Rubber Tire and Track Dozers, Front-end Loaders, and Motor Graders. The Fuel Dock Attendant is responsible for fueling and servicing all equipment arriving at the fuel island and will perform any necessary repairs or troubleshooting during this time. Employees will rotate through various roles—including Lube Truck, Fuel Dock Attendant, and Tool Room—approximately every six (6) months.

What You Bring To Freeport
  • At least one (1) year in relevant Trade or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge and safety practices.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures and applicable safety standards.
  • Ability to read and use schematics.

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently$26.00 - $33.00 hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
