Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. seeks a skilled underground mechanic for the Henderson mine near Empire, Colorado. You will diagnose, service, and repair mobile equipment such as loaders, haul trucks, and graders under direct supervision, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

The role requires 1 year of mining equipment maintenance experience or related technical education, plus a high school diploma or GED. On-site employment includes a housing allowance and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Completion of academic and practical competencies required, including safety, with ability to pass a required written assessment where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostic, maintenance, and repair of underground mobile equipment under direct supervision.
• Perform component replacement and repairs on power trains, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, engines, pneumatics/AC, and frames.
• Conduct mechanical maintenance on underground haul trucks, loaders, drills and bolters; perform preventive maintenance and inspections.

Where You Will Work

Our Henderson mine and mill are an hour drive apart – separated by the Continental Divide and a 15-mile conveyor system (10 miles underground). The Henderson mine is an underground molybdenum mining operation located approximately 42 miles west of Denver and 10 miles west of Empire. It has been in operation since 1976 and today consists of a large block-cave, underground mining complex feeding a concentrator with a current capacity of approximately 32,000 metric tons per day. It can produce approximately 15 million pounds of molybdenum per year. The Henderson mill is located 15 miles west of the mine, between Dillon and Kremmling.

What You Will Do

Skilled mechanic who under direct supervision safely perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair of underground mobile equipment (loaders, haul trucks, graders, bobcats, skid steers, concrete trucks, etc.).

• Assist with and perform component diagnostic, replacement and repairs on, but not limited to the following: power trains, hydraulic systems, electrical low voltage systems, engines, pneumatics / AC systems, and frames
• Perform the following duties:engine replacements, transmission replacements, powertrain replacements, hydraulic motor replacements, etc.
• Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance (PM) on underground haul trucks, front-end loaders, electrical and/or hydraulic drills and bolters and other utility support vehicles
• PM’s include scheduled hour services, changing fluids, filters, inspections and other component checks
• Perform welding (MIG, Stick, TIG, ARC, etc.) and fabrication duties (frame repairs, brackets, body work)
• Assist with and performs emission testing on underground equipment
• Complete work area inspections and housekeeping duties
• May operate mobile equipment such as: forklifts, front-end loaders, cranes, and mine tractors
• Perform other duties as required

What You Bring To Freeport

Minimum Qualifications

• One (1) year ofexperience in mining mobile equipment mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

The estimated pay range for this role is currently$26.00 - $33.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
