Job Summary

Under the immediate supervision of a supervisor, the laborer performs a variety of manual labor tasks in the mine and/or surface operations, with an emphasis on heavy equipment and reclamation duties. The individual will perform all assigned process specifications and instructions safely and competently, report malfunctions or abnormalities, and maintain a high standard of safety and housekeeping.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform manual labor tasks such as shoveling salt, cleaning floors, and assisting operators.
• Use hand tools like drills as needed.
• Assist in skilled tasks like drilling holes and assisting powdermen, with training provided.
• Perform routine cleanup of work areas.
• Identify hazards and unsafe conditions to prevent accidents and environmental impact.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• High attention to safety to prevent injuries.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
• Wearing safety gear such as steel-toed shoes, glasses, and hard hats.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, at heights, and different shifts.
• Less than 2 weeks of training required to qualify.
• Pass pre-employment physical and background check.
• Work environment includes dust, dirt, fumes, noise, and uneven floors.

Essential Job Functions

• Inspect work areas for safety hazards.
• Clean salt spillage, requiring climbing ladders and lifting shovels.
• Assist with loading explosives, lifting 50-pound bags and pouring into holes.
• Operate skid steer and support equipment, requiring coordination and reaching.
• Assist mechanics and equipment operators, including working at heights up to 35 feet.
• Hand scale loose ribs, involving lifting, bending, and training for safety.
• Work productively in a team and as needed for additional hours.
