Job summary

Purpose of Role

Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the Mine Hydrogeologist will assist the project by collecting, processing and interpreting data. The work environment provides a diverse experience working with various professionals across different departments both on‑site and in‑office.

Role Accountabilities

• Support the senior geotechnical engineer with the feasibility study by critically assessing the technical and financial aspects of the project.
• Independently perform routine work such as collecting and assessing hydrogeological data, identifying hazards, site inspections and reports, and coordinating with staff and consultants.
• Review and perform borehole testing such as packer, airlift, pump and injection tests.
• Collect and assess monitoring data.
• QA/QC hydrogeological and geotechnical data.
• Read technical reports and provide summaries of the contents.
• Assist with developing groundwater monitoring plans and data collection systems.
• Provide support on projects related to the hydrology and geotechnical program.
• Complete workplace examinations identifying safety hazards.
• Assist with planning for hydrology and geotechnical data acquisition in support of the feasibility study.

Minimum Qualifications and Education

• Bachelor of Engineering or Science in Hydrology, Mining, Civil, Geological, Geotechnical, or related engineering/science discipline.
• Previous experience installing piezometers and conducting borehole testing.
• Proficient with MS Office, related software and computers.
• Ability to travel to and from sites.
• Strong communication and team skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience at a mine site.
• Experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, MODFLOW, SEEP/W, MinePlan or other related software.

Other Requirements

Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, using hands to manipulate tools and sensors, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
