Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Mine Engineer to join our Technology Center team. You will develop mining plans, participate in feasibility studies, and assist in ore reserve estimates to support short- and long-range production goals.

The role emphasizes safety, productivity, and cost control, with opportunities to collaborate with geologists and engineering staff. A Bachelor's or Master’s in Mine Engineering plus relevant experience is required, with travel up to 5–10%.

Qualifications

Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mine Engineering.
Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty.

Responsibilities

Develop mining plans based on geological information to support planning and production goals.
Participate in feasibility studies to define mining methods, equipment, facilities, and manpower requirements.
Assist in preparation of detailed ore reserve estimates.
Monitor mining methods and equipment to improve performance.
Ensure maximum productivity and extraction rates by optimizing mining methods, procedures, and equipment.
Assist in developing and managing mine, mine ventilation, waste dumps and stockpile designs.
Recommend actions to eliminate production problems and improve safety and efficiency.
Work with Geologists in exploration and assist in the Engineering phase of developments.
Monitor mine ventilation and air quality at working sites throughout the mine.
Perform other duties as required.
