Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Bagdad, Arizona is seeking a Mine Engineer to develop mining plans, evaluate feasibility studies, and support production goals.

This role collaborates with geologists and engineers to optimize methods and equipment while maintaining safety standards. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mine Engineering with relevant experience, strong analytical skills, and a proven ability to communicate clearly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or related Engineering discipline and 3 years of related experience
• Master's degree in Mine Engineering or related Engineering discipline and 2 years of related experience
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mine Engineering
• Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Develop mining plans based on geological information to support short and long-range planning and production goals
• Participate in Engineering feasibility studies to define mining methods, equipment, facilities, and manpower
• Assist in the preparation of detailed ore reserve estimates
• Monitor mining methods and equipment to improve performance
• Ensure maximum productivity and extraction rates by optimizing mining methods and equipment
• Assist in developing mine, mine ventilation, waste dumps and stockpile designs
• Recommend actions to eliminate production problems and improve safety and efficiency
• Work with Geologists in exploration and assist in engineering phases of developments
• Monitor mine ventilation and air quality at working sites
• Perform other duties as required

What You Will Do

• Develop mining plans based on all available geological information to support short and/or long-range planning and production goals.
• Participate in Engineering feasibility studies to define proper mining methods, equipment selection, mine site facilities, and manpower and production requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of detailed ore reserve estimates.
• Monitor mining methods and equipment to improve performance.
• Ensure maximum productivity and extraction rates by optimizing mining methods, procedures, and equipment.
• Assist in developing and managing mine, mine ventilation, waste dumps and stockpile designs.
• Recommend courses of action designed to eliminate potential production problems and to improve safety, operational efficiency, control production costs and protect the environment.
• Work with Geologists in exploration and assists in the Engineering phase of developments and operational activities.
• Monitor mine ventilation and air quality at working sites throughout the mine.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or related Engineering disciplineandthree (3) years of related experience in Engineering,OR
• Master's degree in Mine Engineering or related Engineering disciplineandtwo (2) years of related experience in Engineering
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mine Engineering
• Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$87,500-$120,000.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
