Job summary

Global Power Components in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Robotics Technician to operate and maintain robotic welding systems in a fast-paced production environment. The role focuses on setup, programming basics, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for welding cells.

You will work with cobots and welding equipment, perform changeovers, inspect welds, and assist with system installations while upholding safety standards and quality requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical degree or welding certification preferred.
• 2-5 years welding, fabrication, or automation experience preferred.
• Experience with robotic welding equipment and cobots preferred.
• Able to read blueprints and welding symbols.
• Knowledge of MIG welding processes.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Able to work independently in a cross-functional team.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced production environment.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Experience with FANUC, Miller, Fronius, Lincoln Electric, UR is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate cobots and robotic welding cells to support daily production.
• Perform setup, changeovers, and parameter adjustments for welding programs.
• Load and position components in welding fixtures.
• Monitor welding operations for quality and production standards.
• Troubleshoot weld quality, wire feed, torch issues, sensors, and alarms.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on welding equipment.
• Assist with fixture setup, validation, and optimization.
• Collaborate with weld engineers and production to improve cell performance.
• Conduct weld inspections and verify drawings compliance.
• Document production issues and communicate corrective actions.
• Train production staff on safe operation.
• Maintain clean, organized, safe work environment around robotic cells.
• Support installation and commissioning of new robotic welding systems.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
• Follow safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures.
