Job summary

Cherokee Millwright, Inc. is seeking a Multi-Craft Millwright to install, dismantle, and move heavy machinery per layout plans and rigging drawings.

The role requires cross-training across millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, and civil trades to meet client needs on projects. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, assembling equipment, aligning machines, and using hoists, forklifts, and welding tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two to four years of related millwright experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret layout and rigging plans.
• Cross-trained in multiple trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal.

Responsibilities

• Examine objects, systems, or facilities to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
• Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Dismantles machines and prepares for relocation or upgrade.
• Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, airbags, and forklifts.
• Assembles and installs equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
• Constructs foundations, inserts shims, and adjusts components for correct clearances.
• Aligns machines using hoists, jacks, hand tools, and measuring instruments.
• Bolts, welds, rivets, or fastens machines to foundations or structures.
• Operates forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts as required.

Job Summary

Summary: At Cherokee Millwright, we are a multi-craft company that focuses on the needs of our customers by providing multi-trades personnel to meet the customer’s unique job requests. Therefore, all field employees will be cross-trained in various trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, etc. The focus of this position will be install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment according to layout plans, rigging plans, blueprints, or other drawings by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. However, it will not be entirely set to this specific skillset.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
• Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Dismantles machines.
• Moves machinery and equipment, using hoist, dollies, rollers, airbags, and fork trucks.
• Assembles and installs equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
• Constructs foundation for machines; insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
• Aligns machines and equipment, using hoist, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
• Assembles machines, and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures.
• Uses various hand tools, power tools, torches, and welders.
• Operates Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, and Boom Lifts.
• Additional skills in other crafts will be necessary to meet our customers need and will be expected in this role.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
