Job summary

Cherokee Millwright, Inc. in Maryville, TN seeks a Multi‑Craft Millwright Foreman to lead a field crew in millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, and allied trades. You will schedule work, reading blueprints, and ensure safe, efficient installations, alignments, and repairs across customer sites.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Job Title: Multi‑Craft Millwright Foreman
Department: Operations
Reports To: General Superintendent/Project Manager
FLSA Status: Non‑exempt
Summary: At Cherokee Millwright, we are a multi‑craft company that focuses on the needs of our customers by providing multi‑trade personnel to meet the customer’s unique job requests. All field employees will be cross‑trained in various trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, and more.

Responsibilities

1. Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities based on priority, equipment quantity, and personnel skill.
2. Monitor employees’ work levels and review performance.
3. Monitor tool and part inventories and ensure maintenance of a safe job site.
4. Examine objects, systems, or facilities and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
5. Report accidents, near misses, and injuries to office supervision and cooperate with investigations.
6. Compile operational and personnel data such as time worked, jobs worked, inventory data, equipment used, and maintenance information.
7. Report work‑related concerns to office supervision and mentor employees to correct skill deficiencies.
8. Conduct on‑the‑job training or arrange for worker training in safety or equipment use.
9. Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
10. Dismantle machines.
11. Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, airbags, and fork trucks.
12. Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
13. Construct foundations for machines; insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts to set specified clearances.
14. Align machines and equipment using hand tools, squares, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
15. Assemble machines and fasten them to foundations or other structures with bolts, welds, rivets, or other methods.
16. Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
17. Use various hand tools, power tools, torches, and welders.
18. Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
19. Use additional craft skills as necessary to meet customer needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Oversee the daily work assignments of a crew of one to twelve employees. Report crew performance to office supervision in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning and assigning work, addressing complaints or problems, and reporting issues to office supervision for assistance.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED; or four to five years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to lift up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks that require climbing, kneeling, and crawling. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, high or precarious places, fumes, extreme heat, electrical shock, vibration, and moderate noise levels.
