Job summary

West Fraser in McDavid, Florida is hiring a Millwright - Level 1 reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. This role supports continuous improvement by troubleshooting and performing preventive maintenance on mill equipment.

The successful candidate will read drawings, operate tools, weld (GMAW/SMAW), and move machinery as needed. Shift flexibility is required, including days, nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 3 years of verifiable Millwright experience.
• Must have welding experience (GMAW and SMAW).
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Able to read and understand drawings and printed instructions.
• Willing to work Days, Nights, weekends or as needed.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, analyze, diagnose, and perform maintenance on equipment including fire systems and water systems.
• Undertake preventative and predictive maintenance programs for fire suppression and related pumps.
• Repair and maintain fire systems equipment including Dry Valve Houses and water systems.
• Weld and operate oxy-acetylene torches as required.
• Maintain and operate basic tools (grinders, hyd presses, drill presses, air tools).
• Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and forklifts.

West Fraser’s McDavid, Florida location has an opportunity for a Millwright - Level 1

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Millwright will be a key player in a company-wide continuous improvement effort through daily use of troubleshooting and predictive, preventative maintenance strategies. As a member of this high-performing team, you will be responsible for working safely with all machinery within the mill.

What You Will Do

• Troubleshoot, analyze, diagnose, and perform maintenance work on equipment involving fire systems and other water systems
• Undertake preventative and predictive maintenance programs for Fire suppression systems such as Dry valves, fire pumps, process and potable water pumps.
• Repair and maintenance of industrial Fire systems equipment to include Dry Valve Houses, Potable water systems, Process Water System.
• Welding and operating oxy-acetylene torches.
• Maintain and operate basic tools such as grinders, hyd presses, drill presses, air tools, etc.
• Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and Fork trucks.

What You Need To Be Successful

• Must be a motivated self-starter that can work safely under high-pressure situations
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED
• Must have a minimum of 3 years of verifiable work experience as a Millwright
• Must have welding experience (GMAW and SMAW)
• Must have the skills needed to maintain and operate basic tools such as grinders, hyd presses, drill presses, air tools, etc.
• Able to read and understand drawings and printed instructions.
• Possess a basic understanding of line ups of pumps, sheaves, sprockets, and machine centers.
• Previous repair and maintaining of complex Fire suppression Systems employing Dry Valve systems and Piping.
• Ability to learn PM program and revise as needed and put in Maintenance Work Orders
• Willing to work Days, Nights, weekends or as needed to maintain and repair Fire System.
• Employer will perform skills assessment, background check, reference check, drug screen, and physical.
