Job summary

General Motors LLC seeks a qualified Millwright for an onsite role in Fort Worth, TX. You will perform maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical systems, read blueprints, operate CNC tools, and work with robotics and automation in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has an apprenticeship in a mechanical trade or 8 years of experience, and is willing to work flexible shifts with possible overtime. GM emphasizes safety and high-quality workmanship in this role.

Qualifications

• Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair)
• Eight (8) years of documented experience in a Mechanical trade
• Must be able to satisfactorily complete GM hiring process requirements including assessments, drug testing, and background check
• At least 18 years of age
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Willing to work flexible shift hours including day, afternoon, or night shifts with overtime on short notice

Responsibilities

• Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company procedures
• Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery
• Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems
• Use various hand or power tools for measuring, cutting, threading, bending, soldering, assembling, joining, and installing pipes, valves, and fittings
• Read and interpret blueprints for mechanical operation and assembly of conveyor systems, material handling systems, robots, and other automation
• Operate mobile equipment (forklifts, vertical lifts, cranes)
• Determine loading requirements to rig equipment and material for lifting
• Set up and operate CNC machine tools to cut, bore, grind parts to specifications
• Fabricate punches, tools, steel rule tools and j-sets to exact specifications
• Plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools or assemblies using blueprints, sketches, or models
• Determine quality of finished products by verifying dimensions with calipers, micrometers, etc.
